Canadian Voter Suppression

As chronicled earlier on this site, Canada had a federal election in 2011 which was won by the Conservative Party, led by Stephen Harper. It now appears that the results are tainted by an unusual degree of election fraud – specifically calls, paid for en masse (and in secret, via circuitous routes) by the Conservative Party, which either (a) misdirected likely Liberal and NDP voters as to the location of their polling place, or (b) excessively harassed likely Liberal and NDP voters under the guise of calls from their own party.

Several tens of thousands of complaints have been made to Election Canada in the days since this story became national news in Canada. It is a far reach to speculate, but if the fraud is genuinely extensive and criminal, it may bring down the government or occasion early elections.
